This street is what would now be known as Capitol Mall. Highrises on both sides of the street and a grass center median.

All the buildings you see on M street were demolished starting in 1948, to make room for the impressive Capitol Mall entrance to Sacramento from the Tower Bridge. In the process, many working-class people were displaced.
