Maybe it's Roble Rd?

I don't think it's any of those places. From the grass and oak trees on the hillside it looks like the type of terrain you might find out beyond St Mary's to Saranap. The hills aren't very high and there's no redwood, eucalyptus, or pine trees around which you might find in the Oakland hills or Canyon. Also beyond Saranap/Walnut Creek the terrian is fairly flat.

Golden Gate Ave. ddid have a wig wag signal. It isn't up Chabot Rd. Roble Dr. & Marie Way was much steeper coming up to the tracks and had Cross bucks.

I don't think its Golden Gate.. Its that little road that came down the hill from "Old Tunnel Road"==keep forgetting name..Starts with an "R".. Romeo, Rubio, similar...

Don't know where this is, but it's not in Montclair. Possibly where Golden Gate crossed the ROW approx 800 M above Chabot Rd.

Lots of oak trees and dry grass. Looks like the east side. Any pictures of trains behind Montclair Elementary or crossing Mountain Blvd. at Montclair - late 40's, early 50's

This image is a north view of the grade crossing as the SN exited St. Mary's College at St. Mary’s Road between Rheem Boulevard and Bollinger Canyon Road. The view avoids showing the Las Trampas Creek on the lower right, but the car is parked in front of it across the road. The origin of Bollinger Canyon Road on the middle right edge is also just missed. If you go to eastbayhillsproject.org and go to the last panel of the Moraga section, image G75, you will see the south view. Comparing the details of both photos, note the position of the wig-wag signal changed between the time the two pictures were taken.

Stuart is correct as to the location of this photo. This train is heading towards Burton Valley and Saranap just leaving the eastern edge of the school property. The photo referenced to, G75, appears to be the western edge of the school property based on the chapel bell tower in the background. The ROW to the left of the motor is now the Lafayette/Moraga Regional Trail that you can walk all the way to the head of Olympic Blvd in Lafayette.

Agree with SS, crossing St. Mary's Rd at the eastern edge of school property.
